Battlefield Hardline

Battlefield: Hardline is the upcoming new cops and robbers themed multiplayer shooter in EA’s Battlefield franchise, this time being helmed by Visceral instead of franchise custodians DICE. And while we got a good long look at the game between its official debut at E3’s press conference, and then again at Sony’s E3 presser, but EA isn’t done yet.

For example, they just detailed how the reputation system in Battlefield Hardline will work, and how it will make each online match matter. Talking to IGNThad Sasser, lead multiplayer designer at developer Visceral Game, said,

The Reputation system is is a session-based persistence” that gives players the opportunity to improve their loadout during a match.

“When you hit certain thresholds you unlock one of these perks,” Sasser says. “There are X number levels of Reputation, and during a session you can try to max out your Reputation” to earn more bonuses, such as improved armor.

So what does that mean? That means that your reputation is not persistent- it is reset at the end of every match, meaning you have to behave yourself in every single game if you want the best possible equipment. It’s a novel way to do things, and should make online multiplayer sessions more pleasant.
