Assassin’s Creed Unity: Ubisoft “Very Confident” of PC Version Arriving on Time

Producer Lesley Phord-Toy says it will still be challenging though.

Ubisoft may have a horrible reputation of shipping games on time – which actually started before Watch Dogs when Assassin’s Creed 2 was infamously released several months for PC after the Xbox 360 and PS3 – but Assassin’s Creed Unity producer Lesley Phord-Toy is confident this won’t be the case for the upcoming next gen title.

“We’re always aiming to ship all our games on all platforms at the same time. I don’t have any specific news on the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Unity, but I do know we’re planning on shipping on all three [platforms]: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. I haven’t heard any news differently than that.”

Ubisoft is apparently “very confident” that all three versions will be out on the same day. Then again, this is the same company that released advertisements for Watch Dogs which said two months was enough for playing Grand Theft Auto 5. We all know what happened after that.

“It can be challenging. PC has a variety of different hardware configurations that you can’t necessarily predict. On a console you know what’s in the box. Every customer has the same configuration for the most part, and first-parties push firmware updates so everyone has what you’re expecting to have. PCs are nowhere near as consistent. So it can be extremely challenging to try and support as many of those permutations as possible.”

Assassin’s Creed Unity releases on October 28th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
