There’s been no bones made about parkour specialists being used for the development of Assassin’s Creed: Unity’s new movement system – along with the usual motion capturing. However, Ubisoft has announced that it is appointing Michael “Frosti” Zernow as the first ever “Chief Parkour Officer”.
Take a moment to read that and contemplate whether to re-evaluate your life choices.
According to CVG, Ubisoft is bringing Zernow on to further improve the free running in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The position will also have Zernow serving “in a strategic advisory role, ensuring an ongoing commitment to the authenticity and accuracy of parkour”. You can look forward to his inputs when Assassin’s Creed: Unity releases this October.
At least we know that Ubisoft isn’t messing around when it comes to improving the franchise’s parkouring mechanics. Will it pay off? We’ll find out when Assassin’s Creed: Unity hits PS4, Xbox One and PC later this October.
