Deep Down US Trademark Granted Extension, Game May Release In The West After All

Come on Capcom, just announce it already.

Last year, when the PlayStation was first unveiled at the PlayStation Meeting in February, one of the games that took everybody by surprise was Capcom’s Deep Down, which looked to be an epic fantasy action game, and a brand new IP from the Japanese publisher. Of course, over time, Deep Down’s stature completely dwindled, what with numerous graphical downgrades, and an announcement that the game was intended to be free to play. And then it completely disappeared, with Capcom not talking much about it, and its western release itself being in jeopardy.

Yesterday, we heard Capcom discuss the game for the first time in a while; now it appears that even their plans to bring it to the west are still alive, as today, we learn that the game’s trademark in the US has been granted an extension, which, well, they wouldn’t have applied for if they didn’t intend for the IP to be in the US in some form or the other.

With Capcom hinting at an upcoming anouncement for the game’s release some time soon, I guess we’ll know their plans and intention for this title soon enough. Just, not at Gamescom as Capcom will be sitting that one out. Probably at the TGS, unless Capcom decides to hold an independent event of its own.
