The PS4 is getting a sexy white SKU later this year, bundled with Destiny, which makes the Xbox One the only current generation console on the market to not be available in white (the Wii U has been available in white since its launch in 2012). Well, not anymore! What appears to be a listing for a Sunset Overdrive bundle for the Xbox One for this Fall has been leaked, and it appears that the bundle will come with the game (well, duh), but also a white Xbox One.
The listing for this bundle was initially spotted by NeoGAF. We don’t know yet if the console will include the Kinect with it as well (and whether if it does, if the Kinect will also be white), nor how much it will cost. But making a white Xbox One available makes sense from Microsoft’s perspective, given that the hardware development team that worked on the console were already given unique limited Xbox One consoles of the same color.
In addition, the same listing also seems to reiterate the long held rumor that Microsoft may be planning a $399 Xbox One SKU, except this one will include the Kinect but lack the optical drive, meaning games and movies will not be playable from the disc.
We’ll keep you posted on all of this of course, but right now, Microsoft’s strategy for the Xbox One is coming off as extremely schizophrenic- throw everything at the wall, and see what sticks, basically.
