It’s official: game streaming site Twitch, which is used around the world by Dota 2, CS:GO and Call of Duty players alike, now belongs to Amazon following a $1 billion acquisition by the latter (and despite rumours of Google’s interest in the former). Naturally, as with Google, this led to concerns that the service would be tweaked to better fit Amazon’s profile. Vice president of Amazon Games Michael Frazzini allayed those fears though in a “town hall” broadcast.

“Twitch is absolutely doing a great job and we don’t want to change that at all.”

Twitch CEO Emmett Shear also stated during the broadcast that, “The exciting thing about the Amazon deal is I get to keep doing what I do.” The extra resources that Amazon brings to the table don’t hurt either but according to Shear, “The reason I thought Amazon would be a good home for Twitch is that we had a really shared vision around where gaming industry is going.”

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said that, “Broadcasting and watching gameplay is a global phenomenon. Like Twitch, we obsess over customers and like to think differently, and we look forward to learning from them and helping them move even faster to build new services for the gaming community.”

We’ll find out how this affects the overall shape of Twitch in the coming months but what are your thoughts on Amazon buying the streaming site? Let us know below.
