Destiny releases in a few hours, and the hype and anticipation is palpable. This will be it, this is going to be the biggest game launch of this year. Activision, who are now in a habit to trumpet numbers about their games’ performance a bit after their launch, have jumped ahead on this one and already started to announce numbers for Destiny. And those numbers? Those are impressive, since Destiny is now the most pre-ordered new IP in history.

Of course, pre-orders don’t always translate to sales numbers, but I have the suspicion that that rule may not apply to Destiny, which not only has some incredible hype around it, but also some great word of mouth that has come from the alpha and betas that were made available to everyone earlier this year.

Destiny launches in a few hours on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more news.
