Resident Evil Revelations 2 actually looks fairly interesting; the original Resident Evil Revelations, back when it was released on the Nintendo 3DS, was the best and truest Resident Evil game we had gotten in years, but it was still constrained by the considerations of being on the handheld. Resident Evil Revelations 2, which is being developed for consoles as a target, promises to take that style of gameplay and go bigger.
But the gameplay is the only thing it will share with the first game, as Capcom confirmed that the new game won’t actually narratively be linked to the first game. Also, the game will, a bit disappointingly, support co-op gameplay (co-op is widely accepted as the reason for Resident Evil 5 being underwhelming). Even more disappointingly, it won’t support it online, so not only is it risking compromising its game design, it’s doing it for something it won’t even be doing properly
Sigh.
