In case you didn’t know – in which case, welcome back from your coma – Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is now available for all major platforms. Analysts initially predicted, based on Amazon pre-order numbers, that the latest iteration in the franchise could see reduced sales compared to Black Ops 2 and Ghosts.
However, according Activision head Eric Hirshberg in conversation with Games Industry International, there’s still a chance of Advanced Warfare beating out Ghosts. “We see purchase intent well above last year and we see engagement with the brand in social media channels all being markedly up, so I’m still optimistic.”
This also isn’t keeping in mind the fact that the pre-order numbers only somewhat predict sales on launch day. Digital sales and sales through other retails haven’t been accounted for and that’s not even looking at long-term sales of the product. Given the positive reception, it seems that Advanced Warfare should have a comfortable year ahead.
