Far Cry 4 Map Editor Won’t Support Competitive Multiplayer

Aw, shucks.

Far Cry 4

Far Cry 4 has a map editor- we’ve known that for a good while, now, and I’m sure you were all looking forward to taking to making some cool new maps and then taking them online for co-operative and competitive multiplayer, right?

Well, hold on to your horses there, because the game’s director Alex Hutchinson has confirmed that the map editor will in fact not support competitive multiplayer, which comes as a bit of a bummer. Ubisoft fans who were anticipating the game, however, feel much more strongly about this, as they created what is currently a 126-page thread on Ubisoft’s official forum, the matter no doubt being exacerbated by the fact that Ubisoft is currently under fire from all sides for its poor handling of the launch of Assassin’s Creed: Unity.

However, Hutchinson has hinted that support for competitive multiplayer may be added post release.

“I direct the game but I don’t set budgets or timelines,” Hutchinson explained on his Twitter. “We always squeeze in as much as we can, but we’re always prioritising.

“We’re going to keep supporting the game so hopefully we can get it done post release. No promises but we will try.”

Well, here’s hoping that the game actually runs at launch, so the development teams won’t have to be re-allocated to getting it to speed post launch, as happened with Assassin’s Creed Unity.
