Aonuma: The Legend of Zelda Wii U Looks Even Better Now Than It Did At E3

Take all my money now, Nintendo.

Zelda Wii U

Everybody was anticipating the debut of the Wii U installment in Nintendo’s long running Legend of Zelda saga this past E3, but no one expected it to look as amazing as it eventually did. When Aonuma snapped his finger, and we saw that lush, beautiful green Hyrule field, and a true open world finally realized in a 3D Zelda, it was hard not to be impressed at the technical wizardry that Aonuma and his team had achieved with the game on Wii U, which, let’s face it, isn’t exactly the most powerful hardware in the world.

However, if you were impressed with the game then, you will probably be even more stunned with the final product, as Aonuma has confirmed that the game looks even better now than it did at its E3 debut roughly half a year ago.

In an interview with Famitsu that was mostly about the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, Aonuma managed to get a tease about Zelda U in: “Now it looks more amazing than what was shown at E3.”

He also talked about the full open world structure of the game, and how that kind of mentality has bled into other aspects of the game’s design, such as enemy encounters, where the player has full freedom in how they approach a foe.

Honestly, the more I hear about the game, the more excited and hyped I get. Last year’s A Link Between Worlds was proof that the Zelda team still has it in it to make some amazing games, and Zelda U looks like it just might be one. It launches next year for the Wii U exclusively, so stay tuned.
