Destiny Crucible Rules Dissolve Matchmade Teams That “Vastly Outperform Opponents”

Expect matchmaking to occur if one side completely devastates another.

In an attempt to keep things balanced, Bungie’s Destiny has a new set of rules for the Crucible that will automatically re-balance teams if one is completely outclassing the other.

As mentioned in the recent Weekly Update, the new “Slaughter Rules” will dissolve teams in case one side has an overwhelming advantage. As designer Lars Bakken stated, “In the event of a massacre, all parties are returned to orbit at the conclusion of the match.” How this will work in team-based games is that one team will be dissolved and a new one formed through matchmaking will be created if one side is “grossly over-performing”.

In Rumble, the free for all deathmatch mode, matchmaking will only happen if several players are “grossly under-performing”. So if you find yourself constantly getting rocked by that one try-hard, this should at least shake things up a bit. We’ll also see the return of Salvage and Combined Arms, the former which involves securing relics and the latter involving heavy weapons vs. vehicles. They will be available for a limited time though.
