Sony kicked off their keynote at the PlayStation Experience event this weekend with a fifteen minute long gameplay demo of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The game did look gorgeous, but it did not look as stellar as the E3 2014 trailer had led us to believe. Which, of course, is natural, since it is a work in progress, and the build we got to see was pre-alpha. The game is more than a year away from release, and naturally, it will get better looking with time.
If you don’t believe that, consider this- it didn’t even look as good as it did at the PSX three weeks ago. That’s because it is constantly evolving as developers continue to work on it.
“Seeing that in development all along, I mean, even seeing it frankly two or three weeks ago, didn’t look like that two or three weeks ago. Those guys are amazing. They pulled it off,” said PlayStation Software Product Development Head Scott Rohde.
Of course, this makes sense. And while I am with you all in a general sense of disappointment at the demo, I will also be the first to say, just hold on. If the final game doesn’t look as good as promised, pull out the pitchforks. Until then, give Naughty Dog the benefit of the doubt. These guys have earned it.
