Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker Confirmed For American Release In Early 2015

Awesome game, really awful name.

The Devil Survivor offshoot of the Shin Megami Tensei series, exclusive to the Nintendo DS and 3DS line of handhelds, is probably among my favorite games ever, with the first game being one of the most atmospheric (and stressful!) games I have played, and the 3DS port enhancing the experience and upping the ante in every way possible. The sequel, Devil Survivor 2, was released on the Nintendo DS after the 3DS had already launched, which meant I never got around to playing it (especially since Atlus announced that it too would be getting an enhanced port to the 3DS like Devil Survivor had).

But then that enhanced port sort of disappeared for a very long time, until it resurfaced earlier this year, and was confirmed for an early 2015 release in Japan. Well, rejoice everyone, because Atlus has confirmed that Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker (the only records that is breaking is verbosity of names, jeez) will be launching exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in early 2015 in North America as well.

It won’t just be an enhanced port either- it seems to be a full fledged remake. ‘Exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS, Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker adds full English story voices, completely relocalized dialogue, and a new episode that continues after the final day of the original DS2. The new content nearly doubles the length of the original DS2 and can be accessed immediately from the title screen,’ Atlus said.

Stay tuned for more coverage.
