The controversial and widely panned Aliens: Colonial Marines is one of the latest games to be delisted from Valve’s Steam platform. Another Sega-published title based on the franchise, Aliens vs. Predator 2010, has also been removed from the service.

Though it’s possible that both games have been removed due to their lack of popularity and poor critical reception, a likelier explanation is that the license agreements possessed by Sega have expired. This is fairly odd considering that the publisher still has Alien: Isolation which has been reviewed positively and could be used as the basis for a sequel.

Alien: Colonial Marines is most famous for its poor quality and production values despite a prolonged development period. It also found controversy when it was revealed that Gearbox Software outsourced several aspects to another studio, which only led to further complications down the line when a lawsuit was filed over false advertising. What are your thoughts on both games no longer being available on Steam? Let us know in the comments.
