505 Games acquires Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons IP

For a shockingly low amount, really.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, which was released back in 2013 on Xbox 360, was a great game- one of the most acclaimed games in a year that was full of great games, praised for how well it managed to integrate a great story, deft storytelling, and its platforming mechanics. It was yet another case of a breakout indie hit, so much so that the game’s director, Josef Fares, signed up with EA to produce a new game under their indie banner.

As for the IP itself, it has been sold for $500,000 to 505 Games, including all rights to the game as well- this means that any future distribution of the game will be handled by 505 Games, and any possible sequels to it will also be under 505’s wings, reports Joystiq.

505 Games originally published Brothers back in 2013, so for them, this sale probably represents a sort of rightful homecoming. They are now set to publish Adrift, a pretty interesting looking indie game set in space that debuted at The Game Awards in December.
