If Your PSN Account Got Hacked In 2011 As Part of the Hacks, Sony is Now Accepting Settlement Claims

Free stuff for everyone.

It seems like a distant memory now, but the 2011 PlayStation Network hacks are still the largest recorded cyberattack in recent history (or were… before the orchestrated attacks last year on Sony Pictures’ private servers… man, Sony needs to invest in better cybersecurity). Over 70 million accounts were compromised, and million of sensitive account details, including names, addresses, and credit card details, were made vulnerable and exposed.

Sony already tried to make amends for this with the Welcome Back program it held as soon as PSN went back up, offering free games for everybody who had an account, and it has since made some (very) minor progress in keeping its network more stable; but now, the class action lawsuit against Sony for those very same hackings has ruled that they must settle with everybody affected by the hack, and so, Sony is back to offering free stuff.

As long as you had a PSN account on or before May 14 2011, you are eligible to claim your free stuff- the exact things you get will vary, based on a multitude of factors (including, you know, whether you already claimed your free games before), everyone gets something- free dynamic themes, or PS+ subscriptions are also being offered.
