You Can Now Redeem Xbox One Games with Gold Titles Directly From Your Xbox 360

It lets Xbox 360 owners start building up a free Xbox One library.

In an attempt to spur adoption of the Xbox One, and to try and urge their massive Xbox 360 install base to transition to the Xbox One, Microsoft have announced that Xbox 360 owners can now redeem the Xbox One Games with Gold games directly from their consoles, via the Xbox Live store.

It has always been possible to redeem the Xbox One Games with Gold games even if you did not have the console itself, via the webpage, but this new step should allow Xbox 360 owners to start building up a catalog of ‘free’ Xbox One games that will be waiting for them… should they purchase the system.

It’s a nice and clever way of incentivizing an upgrade, and should hopefully convince some Xbox 360 owners to make the jump (apparently, Xbox 360 owners have been jumping over to the PS4). Well, those of them that are subscribed to Xbox Live Gold and care about the Games With Gold program, anyway.
