Activision and EA Tried To Buy Minecraft

But in the end, Microsoft won out.

Minecraft

Microsoft bought Minecraft and its developer Mojang for $2.5 billion last year, but apparently, they weren’t the only ones trying to get their hands on the most popular game of the modern generation. According to a new interview with Forbes magazine posted by Minecraft creator Notch, Activision Blizzard and EA both tried to acquire the property too.

The deal with Activision ended up just losing steam, according to him, while he refused to talk about what happened with EA. Although, considering that he has criticized EA in the past, and that flat out stated that he wouldn’t sell Minecraft to anyone whose gameplay he hated, it’s probably not too hard to guess.

Although Minecraft now belongs to Microsoft, Microsoft has openly stated that it will still continue to support it on platforms other than its own, including the all three PlayStation versions.
