We recently told you about some interesting news regarding the weapons systems that would be in play for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Well word has come out from the last Kojima Station regarding the games ongoing state of development. At this time, they only have a little bit of balancing and difficulty adjustment in place for the game. This is likely because the are still “putting the game together” at this point, which of course means they are still bringing all the various mechanics and features together to make the final product.
The difficult scaling ties into matters that include vehicle and item behaviours, if one item gives you an unfair advantage in a certain situation, then they tweak and adjust it until it’s just right. But the development team are trying to do so in a way that doesn’t take away from the game’s overall freedom.
With Yoji Shinkawa, the primary character and mechanical designer, having already fleshed out the weapons systems, it was also revealed that not only Mother Base but other important vehicles and items in the game can be given custom colour schemes. The game has a the same level of detail found in previous Metal Gear titles, but in a much larger environment.
With the series having evolved so much and so rapidly throughout its lifetime, it’s easy to see the changes in gameplay when you compare titles, but Kojima thinks that this is the best playing game in the entire franchise, which is really saying something. And with Ground Zeroes being a good measure for comparison, I’m inclined to agree with him.
