Bloodborne: Here Is How You Can Save Your Life In The Game

Rate a message. Save a life.

For those not in the know, Bloodborne, much like the Souls games before it, has a limited asynchronous message exchange system, that players can use to exchange information with each other. It is probably best described as a game specific instance of Nintendo’s Miiverse functionality (which by their own admission was inspired by the Souls games in turn).

When you come across a note, you are given the option to either rate it ‘Fine’ or ‘Foul;’ this is basically a way of you assessing whether the information in the note is genuine, or meant to troll you.

As it turns out, there is more to it than just that. As Reddit user yumepenguin found out, each time a note of yours is rated Fine, you get a full health boost. In a game like Bloodborne where health is a precious resource to begin with and in limited quantities, this could be a game changer.

“So there I am, fighting a boss. I’m out of vials of blood, one hit from death. The beast is low and I know I only need a couple of combos to win.

“The beast raises a claw, leaps in, and just before he lands a blow a message appears on the screen, “Someone rated your message as fine”, I get a full heal, and proceed to kill the beast!

“Rate those messages people, you never know when it may save a life!”

Personally, I always make it a point to rate messages that I find helpful as Fine. Knowing that it might be helping the people who wrote them is now just an extra incentive for me.
