Star Wars Battlefront

Although the reveal of DICE’s upcoming star Wars: Battlefront was by and large a success, the developer has come under a lot of fire for perceived lack of content in the game, as well as the DLC policies that they will be going for. DICE is no longer getting the customer’s benefit of the doubt, and after just how badly the Battlefield 3 and 4 launches went for them, it’s not hard to see why.

In what is fast becoming a pattern now, DICE decided to defend some of its development and design choices with the game recently. For instance, they discussed why they are not including the prequel trilogy or Clone Wars saga in the game.“Sometimes you have to make choices, and those choices may be hard. We are the ones making the game and have to making hard choices sometimes. One of them was to focus solely on the Original Trilogy. The reasoning I’d rather have someone [else more informed] comment on,” the developer said.

They also promised that one of the biggest fears with the game, that it ‘feels like Battlefield,’ is absolutely ridiculous and does not hold true.

“I can absolutely guarantee you that it feels nothing like Battlefield. That would be like saying Halo or COD feels like Battlefield. Or the original Battlefront games.”

Finally, he confirmed that one of the biggest omissions – space battles – might not be omissions after all, and may yet be included in the final game.

“We have and are still discussing space every now and again. We know it has some very exciting prospects. So of course that would be fun to explore! When and if that will happen is impossible for me to say, but no, we’re not saying that space battles are evil and that we will never, ever touch them with a ten-foot pole.”

So, there you have it folks. It sounds like EA and DICE are doing everything they can to put out the fires that the Battlefront announcement started. Are you still excited for this game? Let us know in the comments.
