Launching on May 8.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Doll

It wouldn’t be a major modern AAA game release if it didn’t have DLC announced for it before the game even launched. And so, Nintendo and Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles X, which launches in Japan today, has had its first batch of DLC announced.

The DLC will launch on May 8 (remember, all these dates are applicable only to Japan, the game doesn’t have a release date for the west beyond just ‘Fall’ yet). It includes four different packages, priced at 500 Yen. Each package will include three missions, will allow to recruit the character as a companion, and will come with two unique arts. Three more DLC packs, priced at 300 yen, will come with six quests each, and will be dedicated to earning experience, money and relations points respectively. There’s also a Season Pass, that includes all the seven DLC packages together for 2,000 yen.

At the very least, the pricing sounds sensible, though this does beg the question- why was none of this in the base game? Especially given how close to the game it is all launching, it seems like it was all complete. So why hold it back for DLC?
