Call of Duty: Black Ops 3- Treyarch On Microsoft Timed Exclusivity Partnership

Where there is smoke, is there fire?

Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Call of Duty may be a multiplatform series, but its success was intrinsically tied with the Xbox 360’s, so much so that, over the years, it’s become to be seen as a sort of de facto exclusive for the Xbox brand. Activision and Microsoft both recognize this too- why else would they continue to make all DLC for the game be available to Xbox players first, each year?

Then again, that might not be happening this year- rumors that Sony might have secured exclusive marketing and DLC rights for Call of Duty this year have been circulating for a very long time, and though we do not have any official confirmation or announcement yet (the announcement is usually made at E3 each year), Treyarch was asked the question of DLC exclusivity on Twitter recently. Their response was interesting- it was a lack of a response. They declined to comment on the issue yet.

With Microsoft exclusivity for DLC being something that can be taken for granted, this certainly raises a very interesting question- is the reason for all the evasiveness around this issue because the status quo is about to change this year?

We do not yet know, obviously. But we will soon, one way or the other, this E3. And when we find out, we will be sure to let you know. Stay tuned.
