Call of Duty Black Ops 3

The producer of the popular Call of Duty series Black Ops, Jason Blundell, has recently spoken out about how the extra development time going into the game has allowed them to develop a better narrative that will help enrich the player’s experience.

Talking about how the game world is a continuation of that seen in Black Ops II, Blundell explained how the player will come to know it, saying, “Because our timeline is moving many, many years into the future, it’s not a character connection in that way, it’s more of the world setup and the organization developments and the technology development,”

The Treyarch studio head, Mark Lamia, also touched on the matter of having a narrative driven game that is going to focus on having scripted scenes to help convey the plot. That being said, it’s important to not confuse scripted scenes, with set pieces. He said, “It’s okay to still tell narrative and have mostly scripted scenes where with all the detail and all the tons of animations that we invest in help tell story do those kinds of setups, and it’s also okay to have small-area battles, but we’re going to have big-area battles, and I think there’s a combination of all of that, that makes it all work together,”

What do you think of this? Will Black Ops III be just another first person shooter? Or will it be something special? We will find out when it launches later this year for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
