Fallout 4 was (finally) revealed yesterday, and while scores of fans the world over rejoiced at seeing the next generation vision of their favorite game franchise, there was also the simple fact that they didn’t quite know when they would get to play it. For while Bethesda announced the game, and also the platforms it would be releasing on, they refrained from mentioning a release date, presumably saving it up for E3 this year.
Of course, in today’s day and age, barely anything remains secret, whether you want it to or not. And, as expected, it appears as though Fallout 4’s release date has already been leaked- leading video game retailer GameStop has listed the game for an October 23 release.
Now, if that seems like it is too soon to you, it shouldn’t- Bethesda’s games usually aren’t revealed until they are very close to release, and have short hype cycles, never missing their projected shipment dates. Remember Skyrim? It was revealed in November 2010, with an 11/11/11 release date, which it hit without any hitches.
Will Fallout 4 also hit its October date? We’ll find out. We’ll also find out what the official date is at Bethesda’s conference at E3, 10 days from now. Stay tuned.
