The Xbox brand has made a remarkable comeback in the last two years, rallying from the disastrous reveal of the Xbox One at E3 2013, and slowly regaining gamers’ goodwill and trust, especially thanks to moves such as the inclusion of Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. And now, as the Xbox One enters a stretch where it will have its strongest exclusive lineup yet, Microsoft predicts that this kind of growth for the console will continue to grow.
During Microsoft’s financial conference call for investors and analysts, Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood expressed just that sentiment. “With the strength of Xbox and Xbox live, along with the launch of Halo 5 in october, Xbox will continue to grow both fans and profitability.”
I think that given Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Rise of the Tomb Raider, she may just have a point- the Xbox One may be poised to start gaining on the PS4’s seemingly insurmountable lead.
