Hellblade 1

Ninja Theory’s upcoming action game, Hellblade, looks like it will be exploring some truly uncharted frontiers, thanks to its charting of mental illness. Now, this new trailer that we got for the game at Gamescom is our first indication of just how twisted and disturbing the game will get- which makes sense too, the human mind is a terrifying place. And a human mind beset with illness doubly so.

The tortured and tormented mindscape of Senura looks, frankly, creepy- I really am excited to see how Ninja Theory will weave the narrative into the gameplay, and I am hoping that they do it justice. Mental illness is a very serious issue, and I am looking forward to seeing a game that can explore it well. So far, Atlus’ Persona series is all we have in this area.

Hellblade will release on PS4 and PC in 2016. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.
