IO Interactive has been receiving a fair bit of skepticism for its upcoming Hitman title which releases digitally this December and features a good amount of content in the base package. More content will be added throughout the coming year as the story is expanded through different contracts, missions and live events without any additional costs.

Naturally, this caused many to question whether Hitman was launching in an “unfinished” state. However, IO Interactive studio head Hannes Seifert spoke to Videogamer and outright denied the game’s “Early Access” nature. “When people hear Early Access they often think unfinished, unpolished and buggy. That’s the opposite [to what we’re doing].”

Seifert also reiterated that future content will not cost fans any additional money. “There is nothing hidden away you could even spend extra money on. That is very important to us.”

With games like Destiny – which added much of its content after it shipped with a barebones story and many issues, causing fans to classify its first year as the “beta stage – it’s easy to see why players would be skeptical. Nonetheless, Hitman is out on December 8th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One so we’ll find out just how honest IO Interactive is about its approach.
