Expect Some Familiar Faces In Assassin’s Creed Movie, Says Ubisoft

It's starring Michael Fassbender, it can't be all bad.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate

The Assassin’s Creed movie is officially a thing now, and is well underway; naturally, given the spotty history that movies have had with video games before, one has to wonder whether this movie will be able to do justice to the games. Ubisoft has already confirmed that the movie is being treated as canon and as part of the same universe as the games; happily, it also seems that in spite of this, they are willing to let the movie be its own thing.

To that end, the movie will be based not on any of the games, but rather set in the same world, and feature an all new story. Hollywood star Michael Fassbender will star as Aguilar, a new Assassin created specifically for the movie, and modern day protagonist Callum Lynch who discovers his connection to the 15th century Assassin via his genetic memories.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that while the movie is a new story, fans should still keep an eye on it- it will have references to the game, its story could impact the games, and it will have some familiar faces as well.

I just hope the movie does justice to the games, is all. We have had way too many poor movie adaptations of video games.
