The game doesn't force cooperation, but it's much harder if players don't work together.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon

Ghost Recon: Wildlands was announced at this year’s E3 and while we got a little bit of information, including the fact that this is the first open world game in this long running series but we didn’t get a ton of information about what the gameplay was actually going to look like. Now we finally have a little bit of information thanks to a recent interview with Senior Producer Nouredine Abboud and Examiner.com.

Among the things we’ve found out is that this game is all about cooperation among the four members of a given team. While Abboud says players can be out doing their own thing whenever they want, it makes a lot more sense for them to be working together. “Technically speaking, there is no limit. We don’t want to force people to do anything in order, however, the biggest thing is you’re behind enemy lines. Let’s say your life expectancy is lower the more you get away from your friends. The game is based around the fact that you will have four players, so it’s four human beings over the AI. If you split apart you will need to decide ‘will I have enough time to get away from [my friends], complete something and then get back in time?'” Abboud said.

The game’s developers say it’s important not to force people to work together. After all, when working online with three other people those people might wander off by themselves from time to time. The game is just quite a bit more fun when the team plays together. Ghost Recon: Wildlands is expected next year but doesn’t have an official release date.
