Since Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain was released, there has been quite a few questions about some supposed secret content that can apparently be unlocked. Members of the development team have been hinting at a secret chapter’s existence, while other members are remaining steadfastly tight lipped. That has only led to fans working harder than ever to try and figure out just what’s going on.

Directly asking producer Ken-ichiro Imaizumi about the new content certainly isn’t the answer. Twitter users recently asked him if he could give them any hint at all about where this content is located and how to unlock it. He first answered no comment, and then said he “couldn’t tell” us. Both of those answers seem to indicate there is something out there, but he’s not going to give us a map to find it. Luckily, there are plenty of resourceful Reddit users out there that are on the case.

A thread has been dedicated to finding out just where this secret chapter went, as well as why it went missing at all. As the Reddit thread points out [there is even a whole sub reddit dedicated to the cause], it seems like people would have been able to find it by datamining the PC version of Phantom Pain. The OP posits that part of the reason the PC version’s release date got moved up is because all references to this secret missions were removed. Those who have been following the development of the game have noted that the computer version was originally supposed to come out two weeks after the console version.

This has led to people thinking the secret chapter i.e. Chapter 3 titled Peace has been expertly buried and is just waiting to be dug up. The lack of flat-out denials seems to be a hint. The lack of confirmation appears to, strangely be one as well. We’ll just have to wait and see if someone can find the elusive missing content in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

We will see how it all pans out. Regardless, The Phantom Pain is one of the year’s best game.
