Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 15 will be out sometime in 2016 but is still undergoing changes in its overall battle system. According to a Japanese RPG forum post (translated by Nova Crystallis), the final game won’t see players automatically switching between weapons as they chain attacks together. Instead, you can switch between weapons using the D-Pad.
In the demo Final Fantasy 15: Episode Duscae, it was possible to assign weapons for the use of different attacks but when attacks were chained together, Noctis would automatically switch to different weapons in the process. There will be an option to set different weapons for Counters and Raids but you can also leave those to rely on the weapon you have currently equipped.
This isn’t the first big change we’ve seen after Episode Duscae. The development team recently introduced Lunafreya, a new female character who would be taking the place of Stella, who’s been present since the game’s inception.
