Xbox One is getting a brand new indie game, and boy does it look great- it’s a new horror game, and it seems to be picking up from where last year’s P.T. left off on the PlayStation 4- a psychological horror masterpiece that is as unsettling as it is outright creepy.

Layers of Fear follows an artist in his pursuit to paint a masterpiece- a pursuit that has become an obsession, and driven him to the point of insanity. The game puts the emphasis on unsettling the player by playing with their perception, as well as by twisting the mundane and the ordinary into something no longer recognizable, something that is disturbing in its incongruity.

The perception games that it plays also have a potential to make the player question whether what they just saw actually was in the game, or whether it is the game messing around with them- an involvement on a level that other horror games entirely fail to meet.
