As of today, Nintendo has apparently started to send out devkits for their upcoming, enigmatic Nintendo NX system. And while a new system is always an exciting time for the industry, with Nintendo, the prospect is one rife with questions and second guesses, especially after a decade of hamstrung hardware: will the console be competitive? Will it be able to compete with the other consoles on the market? Will it just be some old technology wrapped up in a gimmick?

Well, it appears as though the NX is poised to be a very powerful system- The Wall Street Journal reports that, according to developers, the Nintendo NX will use industry leading hardware, in response to the criticism and mass exodus of third party development that the Wii U’s weak hardware saw.

It honestly sounds like it is going to be very exciting- an all new, powerful Nintendo console, one that gets the full power of Nintendo’s first party development, as well as industry standard third party development? Sign me up for it!

To find out more about the NX, be sure to read our one stop guide on just what the system is and what we can expect from it, as well as our speculation on why the NX may be using cartridges (and why it wouldn’t be a bad thing if it was). Also check out how Nintendo may finally be allowing a full fledged online network, complete with Achievements for players, as well as their new controller, which may have scrolling shoulder buttons. It also sounds like they will be aiming to create an NX ecosystem.

Nintendo will showcase the Nintendo NX some time in 2016, and a release later that year is anticipated. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for all the latest and greatest on Nintendo’s newest system.
