At least the game did better elsewhere.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3

By all accounts, the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was a rousing success. The title took in more than $550 million in the first three days it was on the market but it appears there was at least one region where the game didn’t do all that well. The industry analyst Media Create recently put out its sales numbers in Japan for both the Xbox One and PS4. Black Ops 3 was able to make it into the top 50 chart at number 46 on the Xbox One.

Not only did the analyst show where these games ranked in Japan but it released the actual sales totals of the game which reached 166,000 copies in the first week in Japan. While that number is plenty impressive, looking deeper into the numbers could be rather disturbing for Microsoft. The report shows that the PS4 version of the game sold 143,817 copies. The PS3 version sold another 20,899 which means that the Xbox One version appears to have sold about 1,300 copies.

Obviously, some of these numbers were to be expected considering the PS4 and PS3 are also more popular in general in Japan. Still, such low sales numbers for Microsoft anywhere isn’t something the company is going to get real excited about. For now, at least the firm has to lean on the fact that it seemed to have quite a bit more success when it comes to other parts of the world. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is still one of the more popular games to have launched this year.
