As we talk more and more about the impending release of Playstation VR, we are of course talking about the number of different games that are going to be available. We’ve also been talking about what sales numbers would be considered successful for the device and whether or not one million units in its first year would be the bottom limit and whether that would be a sign of success. There are also a number of technical issues that have been getting discussed over the last few days.

When it comes to  the technical stuff, user tracking is an essential part of any virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), and PlayStation VR is no different. Sony announced that its upcoming device uses the PlayStation Camera technology to track lights that emit from the HMD, much in the same way with the DualShock 4 controller and its light bar. The Playstation 4 virtual device can track a total of four devices at a time.

The company not only revealed that piece of information but also showed off the different combinations the device will be able to track during a talk at the 2015 Montreal Game Summit. The company also made it clear that each combo seems to contain five devices in total, meaning it appears the PlayStation VR itself doesn’t count as one four. One setup includes the HMD and four DualShock 4s, while the rest show various combinations of the HMD, the controller and the PlayStation Move motion controller. Check out the video below and get ready when Playstation VR goes live next year.
