It’s been a good year for PC gaming, with multiple high profile titles, indie and AAA, Japanese and western, multiplat and exclusive, launching for the platform this year. For the first time since the market transitioned into a mostly digital one, fronted by Valve’s Steam, we also got some hard numbers on how well games were doing on PC, thanks to SteamSpy, an unofficial but shockingly accurate tracker that reports how games are selling on Steam.

And now, they have released their preliminary list of the highest selling games on PC this year. Preliminary because, with the Winter Steam Sale now on, it is possible for these numbers to change before this year ends.

The highest selling game on Steam this year was GTA 5, which managed to sell 3.6 million copies; Fallout 4 was next with 2.5 million copies, despite only launching last week, while ARK: Survival Evolved, H1Z1, and Rocket League rounded out the Top 5 with sales of 2.2 million, 2 million, and 1.9 million units respectively.

The full list is fascinating, and paints a very healthy picture of the PC market- a market dominated not by top heavy blockbusters that cannibalize sales of all other games, but where success is distributed evenly across multiple games, all of which manage to pull in very impressive numbers. You can check out the list for yourself below.
