We haven’t seen an Xbox One software update ever since the launch of the New Xbox One Experience back in November. In many ways, this is a lot like in 2014, when Microsoft paused major software updates for the holiday season, before resuming them again in January 2015. That is what might happen this year too, as Microsoft are hinting that they will have more information about the Xbox One system software preview program next week.

As for what this new update may bring with it, we don’t know yet. Remember, most of the major issues with the Xbox One have now been resolved, thanks to the combination of the constant major firmware updates the Xbox One has been getting for almost two years now, as well as the major overhaul that the New Xbox One Experience provided. Still, we know of some features that are in the cards- the ability to see who is in a Party before you join it has been mentioned before, and we do know that Microsoft wants backwards compatibility with the original Xbox eventually as well.

Whatever the new updates are, we are sure they will be important and essential, just like Xbox One system updates always are.
