DriveClub Developer’s New Name Is Not Yet Decided

When news broke out a while back that Sony would be closing down the entirety of Evolution Studios, the guys behind the awesome Motorstorm games back on the PS3, and much more recently, DriveClub, there was a general wave of sadness felt by the community- Evolution had been one of Sony’s oldest studios, and they had always been there on PlayStation with a signature racing game. Their absence would be felt.

But then, the announcement that the studio would be moving pretty much wholesale to Codemasters and continue work was a relief to a lot of fans- while not ideal (‘ideal’ would have been them still staying on at Sony), it’s a better fate than most studios in their position get.

Today, Evolution Studios’ Paul Rustchynsky sounded off on Twitter about a few questions that have arisen as part of this move. “We’re working on our own IP [with Codemasters],” he said on Twitter, also noting that “The name of the studio still has to be decided.” Finally, he also clarified that the DriveClub engine is going to stay with Sony, as it is Sony’s property- but that thankfully, Evolution gets to keep the coders who developed it, so they should be able to create something equally impressive in the future. “Expect great things!” he said.

What exactly will Evolution work on? What is their new racing game going to be like? I would like to see the kind of open world racing game these guys would make, possibly as a response to Forza Horizon?
