The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine’s June 7 Release Date Was An Erroneous Listing

Blood and Wine's release date remains elusive- for now.

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine may just be an ‘expansion,’ but don’t let its DLC status fool you- CD Projekt RED have frequently gone on record and claimed that The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine will be their best and most ambitious project yet.

It makes sense, then, that people are anticipating its release, that its release date remains a matter of discussion among fans more than the launch date of DLC for other games may be. A while ago, it seemed as though the endless speculations about when the DLC may announce were at an end, when a listing on GRYOnline mentioned a launch date of June 7.

However, it seems as though that listing may just have been a mistake. Today, GRYOnline’s editor Verminus got in touch with WCCFTech to explain that the listing on the site had been an error and an oversight:

“I work at GRYOnline.pl, the website that supposedly “leaked” the date,”he said. “Unfortunately, I have bad news. The date that we set was a placeholder date, because all the official information point to Q2. The 7th of June was just an estimated date.

“The way our date system is constructed, we have no option to set a more general date like Q2.

“There is no confirmation yet as to when The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine will be released. We’re really sorry for the misunderstanding, the date is now completely hidden on the game’s Encyclopedic entry.”

So- that’s that. Of course, it’s entirely possible that the leak was accurate, and that the site is now just scrambling to cover for jumping the gun. Nonetheless, unless we have some confirmation, it appears as though the June 7 release date rumor will have to stay just that- a rumor.
