Last year, Microsoft announced that they would be bringing Xbox 360 backwards compatibility to the Xbox One- and the initiative appears to have been massively successful for the company, too. Microsoft recently confirmed that Xbox One users have spent over 100 million hours cumulatively playing Xbox 360 backwards compatible games on Xbox One.

“In addition to all the new games coming, we’re committed to helping carry your favorite games from your Xbox 360 library forward as well,” they said in a recent post. “Your response to Xbox One Backward Compatibility has been overwhelming – to date, gamers have spent more than 100M total hours playing Backward Compatible titles on Xbox One. We recently added Call of Duty: Black Ops, XCOM: Enemy Within, and Portal 2 to the growing library of Backward Compatible games, now totaling 209 titles with many more on the way.”

Over 200 games in less than a year is actually very impressive- and with games like Red Dead Redemption on the way too, those 200 games also include a lot of major Xbox 360 hits that made that console such a hit to begin with among their number. Who knows? Maybe one day, the bulk of the Xbox 360 library will be playable on the Xbox One.
