Polyphony Digital may have lost their touch to make games as compelling and fun as they used to not so long ago, but the one area where they remain indisputable champs is in terms of authenticity and realism- the have a propensity for insane attention to detail, and this, it seems, is rooted in series creator and producer Kazunori Yamauchi’s experience with real, hands on racing.
“What I’ve been seeking to figure out through this, is what sort of car the modern day sports car is, and I drove the M6 as part of that search,” Yamauchi said in a new video Sony released. “We make video games, but it’s really important to know the real thing. And racing, I think it’s the same with anything, but you can’t know the real thing until you’ve experienced it yourself. And if you’re going to experience something, you might as well experience the most incredible.”
Hopefully, Polyphony can, yet again, meld their insane attention to detail with a game structure that is fundamentally and intrinsically fun to play through. Gran Turismo Sport is due out this November on PlayStation 4 exclusively.
