Sony’s first major announcement at the PlayStation Meeting wasn’t much of a surprise. As was expected, Sony have confirmed the PlayStation 4 Slim at the PlayStation Meeting today. The new console, which leaked a few days ago, has a new matte finish and a far more compact size than the regular PS4 slim model. It has no additional functionality over the existing models- what you get with the traditional PS4 system is exactly what you will get here, except in a slimmer case.

The two changes that have been made include the new 5GHz wireless chip on board, which allows for faster and better wireless speeds, as well as a new, revised DualShock 4- both of which had already been leaked beforehand.

Sony have confirmed that the PS4 Slim will retail for $299. It is slated to go on sale from September 15th. What are your thoughts on the new PS4 slim and its price? Let us know in the comments section below and stay tuned for more news and updates from the PlayStation Meeting.
