It’s not the DualShock 4 update we all wanted, but it is one, nonetheless- the PlayStation 4 Pro ships with a new DualShock 4 controller that is almost identical to the one we have now (and I think it is identical to the one in the box with the PS4 Slim), and this controller will have a secret bonus feature that will probably make it compelling to some enthusiasts- PS4 architect Mark Cerny has confirmed that the new DualShock 4 will offer minimal latency when it is plugged in via USB.
This can be very important on games like Street Fighter or Guilty Gear – in fact, Cerny himself says that “you can now directly connect the controller to the console, and send signals by USB, which, when you’re playing a fighting game, and you want the absolute minimum latency, it’s just heaven” – so it’s definitely a nice feature that Sony are offering here.
I just wish they had also offered better battery life for the controller, and the way to turn that stupid LED light off, because those, in my mind, are the real improvements the DualShock 4 needs.
