15 Things You Need To Know About PlayStation VR

The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive may be technically sophisticated VR products, but they have failed to make any splash whatsoever at the market. In contrast, Sony’s PlayStation VR is widely expected to be a commercial success, and the best chance VR has at making headway into the mass market. The reasons are many, but chief among them are the headset’s relatively low price, and the fact that it needs to be tethered to a PS4 console, instead of a high end gaming PC.

So it should come as no surprise that research firm SuperData (via GamesIndustry.biz)is bullish on the PlayStation VR’s prospects in the market. In a new report, the firm indicated that it sees the PSVR be far and away the most successful VR product by the end of this year, by which point it should have sold 2.6 million units- an astonishing figure, especially considering the low sales of the Oculus and Vive.

The only competition PSVR will face will apparently be from Samsung’s Gear VR, which will have sold 2.3 million- but the as for Oculus and Vive, PSVR is expected to sell more than nearly four times their cumulative sales.
