Final Fantasy 15 is slated to release, at long last, on November 29 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 worldwide. But that list of platforms is missing something- you see, there is no PC version of the game, in spite of repeated rumors that indicated that there would be one earlier this year. In the end, director Hajime Tabata shot those rumors down, coming clean and outright admitting that the development team is focused on completing development of the game right now to focus on adding other platforms into the mix.

The rumors have definitely died since then- but hopes of a PC version continue to linger, especially given Tabata’s suggestion that the team may look into the development of a PC version after the Xbox and PS4 versions release. However, if a PC version is to come, it would take a while- in an interview with Spanish website Vida Extra (translated by WCCFTech), Tabata said that a PC version of the game could take more than a year of development.

“On that hypothesis, not talking about something real, just an idea, if we worked on a PC version what I have very clear is that we would work to provide a better version of what we have now on consoles. We could say that something like this would take us more than a year. We should work to adapt the engine, which is very laborious, and from there to develop its course,” he said.

At the very least, he is being candid and honest about it upfront, rather than stringing people along with vague hints, raising hopes only to dash them later. For now, it looks like Xbox One and PS4 owners are the only ones who will get to play Final Fantasy 15 when it launches on November 29.
