Skyrim Remastered Edition

Skyrim‘s remaster, The Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Special Edition, is largely a well done one- but it, as with all Bethesda games, launched with a litany of bugs and glitches, which do need to be addressed. That’s not all, either, as the remaster launched with highly compressed audio, leading it to sound worse than the 2011 game.

Bethesda had said that they were aware of the sound compression issues, and that they would be working on fixing those. To their credit, they now have- the newest update for Skyrim: Special Edition, available to download on Steam, fixes the sound compression issues in the game. It also addresses some of the bugs and glitches, as well as with how the game handles mods.

You can check out the full list of changes with this new update for yourself below. For now, it is only available on PC, but hopefully, Bethesda can release it on Xbox One and PS4 soon, too.

FIXES

  • General performance and optimization improvements
  • Fixed rare issue with NPCs not appearing in proper locations
  • Fixed issue with saves erroneously being marked as Moddded, even though no mods are active
  • Updated some sound files to not use compression
