Microsoft’s Windows 10 Store hasn’t exactly been the most praised interface for purchasing and downloading digital titles, especially when it comes to titles like Gears of War 4 or Forza Horizon 3. The latest schmoz inflicted on the Store was Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and the revelation that multiplayer users on Windows 10 couldn’t connect with those on Steam.

However, as per Windows Central, the decision wasn’t Microsoft’s. It first cited an anonymous source but then added an official announcement from a Microsoft spokesperson which stated, “We support cross-play between devices and platforms for partners who want to enable it.”

This seems to imply that it was Activision which made the decision to not allow cross-platform play between Steam and Windows 10 users. At this point, Microsoft is refunding Windows 10 Store purchases who can’t find anyone to play with.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare isn’t exactly going gangbusters on Steam either – it currently has 3,731 players on Steam with a concurrent peak of 11,122. What are your thoughts on the middling reception? Let us know below.
