Nintendo has been hyping up The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for a while now, delaying the release for the right amount of polish and positioning it closer to the impending launch of the Nintendo Switch in March 2017.

However, blogger Emily Rogers – who’s been a very reliable source for Switch rumours before – said that “multiple sources” informed her of the game missing March 2017. Eurogamer backed up the report and noted how it had heard something similar.

The delay is apparently due to the localization work being much higher than the dev team had expected. Rogers noted that as per sources, “Localization for Breath of the Wild might not be finished until the end of December. After localization is completed, this game will require between (at least) four-to-six months of testing.”

That means it could release by Summer 2017. It does lend some fuel to the rumour of the Nintendo Switch being delayed but if not, then The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could arrive several months after the console’s availability. Nintendo has yet to fully date the release but we’ll likely learn more as we near the launch of the Nintendo Switch.
